The man faced the ordeal of a possiblefelony conviction and spent time in jail due to the wrongful accusation.

Police sought help in finding a man accused of raping a woman at Martin Luther King Park. Three days later, a 20-year-old man was arrested for the crime after police issued a sketch of the suspect, and he was positively identified by the victim in a police lineup. The falsely accused man says the police came into his home without telling him why, and that when he was later told by a detective the potential charges he was facing, he denied any involvement.

While no reason was given as to what prompted authorities to pursue the vehicle in the first place, it all ended when a spike strip was used to deflate the man's tires, bringing his car to a stop. California physicist offers unusual traffic ticket defense

A physicist with the University of California at San Diego offered a rather unusual defense to a traffic ticket that he received recently. Instead of paying the fine, as many would do, the physicist demonstrated through physics that what the ticketing officer thought he saw did not actually happen. While such a traffic ticket defense would be difficult to pull off again, it nonetheless highlights an interesting issue.

Here, the physicist was ticketed for not coming to a full stop at a stop sign. If he had been successfully charged with the ticket, he could have faced a $400 fine. However, he managed to convince the presiding judge that the officer could not possibly have seen what the he claimed to have seen.
